Abstract This study was carried out to evaluate clinically and radiographically the use of single implant with different attachments for assisting mandibular complete overdenture. Materials and Methods: 14 complete mandibular edentulous patients opposed by conventional maxillary denture. Single dental implant (12 mm length and 3.5mm diameter) was inserted at the anterior region of the mandible area to retain a removable complete overdenture. According to attachment type patients are divided in two groups; • group A: Consists of 7 patients for whom removable complete overdenture was retained with ball and O-ring attachment. • group B: Consists of 7 patients for whom removable complete overdenture was retained with ball and silicon soft liner as female attachment. Clinical evaluation parameters include: gingival index, probing depth, bleeding index and radiographic evaluation for alveolar bone loss around implants and residual ridge resorption at time of denture insertion, at 6 months, 12 months and 18 months. At the end of the study the data were collected, tabulated and statistically analyzed. Results: All the implants of the two groups were successfully. |
