Abstract

This comprehensive work scrutinized an operational gas processing plant, delving into operational efficacy, greenhouse gas emissions, and energy optimization. By extensively collecting and analyzing data, it uncovered excessive emissions and proposed strategies to mitigate them. Evaluating waste heat recovery systems like absorption chillers and hot oil-driven reboilers, it identified potential annual savings of $229,287 USD and $209,456 USD, respectively, with payback periods ranging from 2.96 to 5.14 years. Combining both opportunities required an investment of $1,755,773 USD, leading to a combined payback period of 4 years. Additionally, a novel monitoring framework employing Cumulative Sum of Difference Analysis and regression analysis effectively tracked energy performance, providing a reliable equation with a minimal deviation of 1.81 MMSCFD from actual data. This study offers crucial insights into reducing emissions, optimizing energy, and implementing efficient monitoring frameworks for gas processing plants.
