Abstract The study was conducted on forty male albino Wistar rats weighing about 130-150g. The study continued for 5 weeks. Rats were divided into four groups; control group (n = 10): this group received the basal diet (ad libitum). Iron overload (iron) group (n = 10): this group received intraperitoneal injection of iron dextran (60 mg/kg/day). NAC group (n = 10): this group received NAC via oral gavage tube at a dose of 150 mg/kg/day in the morning and intraperitoneal injection of iron dextran (60 mg/kg/day) in the afternoon. AOP group (n=10): this group received AOP via oral gavage tube (150 mg/kg/day) in the morning and intraperitoneal injection of iron dextran (60 mg/kg/day) in the afternoon. |
