Abstract The present thesis entitled “Synthesis of nano-biosorbent and its application for removal of heavy metals from wastewater” This thesis contains (108) pages, (74) References and English and Arabic Summary: The data are collected in 45 Tables and 45 Figures. The thesis comprises four chapters: Chapter I is concerned with water pollution, heavy metals and their hazardous effect, common techniques for removal of heavy metals, applying nanotechnology for removing heavy metals and the previous studies made on the adsorption of heavy metals. Chapter II is related to the experimental part for using nano- orange peel as bio-sorbent for the removal of Pb2+, Cu2+, Cd2+, Ni2+ and Fe3+ from polluted aqueous solutions under various conditionsof pH, different concentrations of metal ion, amount of bio-sorbent and contact time at 300 rpm and at room temperature ( 25°C). Methods of preparation of nano orange peel as Bio-sorbent were descriped .The methods of charcreization of nano orange peel such as FTIR, TEM and SEM analysis to identify the surface functional groups, size and analyzing surface morphology of the bio-sorbent have been descriped. Chapter III collects the results and discussions. The metal ions bio-sorption was highly pH-dependent. The percentage of removal of metal ions (Pb2+, Cu2+, Cd2+, Ni2+ and Fe3+) increased with increasing pH where maximum removal was 69% at (pH=6), Summary 106 75.99% at (pH=7), 19.67% at (pH=7) and 71.64% at (pH=6) for Pb(II), Cu(II), Ni(II) and Fe(III), respectivel |
