Abstract

This study was done to evaluate the crestal bone loss and patient satisfaction in full-arch screw-retained implant prostheses constructed on titanium bases and full-arch screw-retained implant prostheses constructed on trans-mucosal abutments using the intraoral luting technique.
This study included twenty-two patients, who were divided into two groups. A screw-retained full-arch implant-supported prosthesis was created over four dental implants in the upper or lower jaws. In the control group, a screw-retained prosthesis was constructed using multiunit abutments. In the experimental group, ti-bases were utilized to construct a screw-retained prosthesis over the implants. In all groups, the prosthesis framework was constructed of PEEK and lutedintraorally over the titanium sleeves using resin cement. A binary outcome of crestal bone loss and patient satisfaction was obtained six and twelve months later.
Results: there was a significant difference between anteriorsin baseline-6m & baseline–12m, while for posteriors there was a significant difference between them in baseline-6m& 6m–12m.
While for patient satisfaction,at 6m, intervention > control in difficulty in speaking, difficulty in chewing hard food & time required for prosthetics, While intervention<control in inconvenience in impression, pain during insertion and removal & discomfort during brushing. On the other hand, after 12m, intervention>control in difficulty to chew hard food, While intervention>control in difficulty to chew soft food, convenience in impression, pain during insertion and removal.
Conclusion: Regarding anteriors, intervention group was higher than control groupin baseline-6m & baseline–12m, while for posteriors intervention group was higher than control group in baseline-6m& 6m–12m. While for patient satisfaction, at 6m, intervention was higher than control in difficulty in speaking ,difficulty in chewing hard food & time required for prosthetics, while intervention lower than control in inconvenience in impression, pain during insertion and removal & discomfort during brushing, On the other hand after 12m, intervention was higher than control in difficulty to chew hard food, While intervention was lower than control in difficulty to chew soft food, convenience in impression, pain during insertion and removal.
