Abstract

Premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) is a medical condition in women under the age of 40 in which ovarian follicles become degenerated due to increased apoptotic changes and stop to function normally. Anthracycline- based chemotherapy as doxorubicin (DOX) is associated with 40 60% risk of drug-induced POI. Several studies have explored the efficacy of BM MSCs-mediated therapy in fundamental POI treatment; however, they did not attain the expected repairing effect due to their poor homing to the injured tissues, low survival rate and apoptosis. Pretreatment is found to be a promising preconditioning method of MSCs enhancing their homing and survival rate and hence their therapeutic efficacy for POI. Therefore, the aim of this histological study was to throw a light on the effect of heat shock (HS) pretreated bone marrow derived mesenchymal stem cells (BM- MSCs) versus the nontreated routine ones in the repair of DOX-induced POI in adult female albino rats.
