Abstract

Hip fractures in the elderly place a considerable strain on healthcare resources due to the high post-fracture morbidity, death, and disability rates.
The term ”unresolved fracture” refers to the care of displaced intracapsular femoral neck fracture in physiologically active individuals, which is still a contentious issue. Surgery should be used to treat a femoral neck fracture unless the patient is gravely unwell. According to Garden’s classification, the type of surgical procedure recommended depends on the type of fracture: for an undisplaced fracture, internal fixation is advised. For elderly patients with displaced fractures, hemiarthroplasty (HA) or total hip arthroplasty (THA) are advised and for younger patients, open reduction and internal fixation are advised.
