The study aimed to identify the role of Egyptian cultural diplomacy in building the reputation of the state through the official Facebook pages of Egyptian ministries, the study sample. It also aimed to understand the methods of promoting cultural diplomacy, monitor the dimensions on which it relies in building the reputation of the state, and describe and analyze the most important promotional strategies and techniques of cultural diplomacy used by the ministries in the study sample in their posts on their official pages.This study belongs to descriptive studies, and the researcher relied on the survey method and used content analysis tool for the study sample during the industrial week system from January 1, 2022, to September 30, 2022. A total of 194 posts from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, 153 posts from the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, and 57 posts from the Egyptian Ministry of Culture were analyzed, with a total of 404 posts.The study reached several results, including:- Cultural diplomacy can play an important role in shaping the reputation of the Egyptian state and improving relations between countries, but only if it is used within a strategic framework that includes clear and planned activities to achieve the strategic goals of the state in managing and building its reputation comprehensively with all relevant ministries in the country and exporting it to both the local and international public. This was clearly evident in the Egyptian ministries of tourism and antiquities, and youth and sports, where most of their posts on their official pages were directed towards the local and international community through promoting tourism in the country and highlighting Egypt’s superiority in tourism sites on foreign platforms, as well as its excellence in sports activities in Olympic competitions with other countries in various sports, using both Arabic and English languages. In contrast, the Ministry of Culture focused in most of its posts on its official page on the local community and used only the Arabic language as the official language for its posts.- New media plays an important role in promoting cultural diplomacy and showcasing the distinctive cultural heritage of the Egyptian state, promoting it through special events, initiatives, activities, and conferences, the most important of which is the United Nations Climate Conference (COP27) to be held in Sharm El-Sheikh, which confirms the status of the Egyptian state among the countries of the world, in addition to promoting tourism for Egyptian museums and beaches. This was clearly evident through the official pages of the ministries in the study sample. However, despite the important and positive role of new media, the inability to fully control and manage it well can have a negative impact on the reputation of the state.
- The results revealed the weak utilization of the official page of the Ministry of Culture in promoting cultural diplomacy, as evidenced by the low number of posts related to cultural diplomacy. This is a matter of concern because it is the ministry that is supposed to bear the greatest burden in promoting Egyptian cultural diplomacy, indicating the need for a systematic plan to promote cultural diplomacy due to its important role in building the reputation of the state.Keywords: (Soft power, cultural diplomacy, state reputation, new media, promotion of Egyptian cultural diplomacy, Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, Egyptian Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Youth and Sports).
