Abstract

Concrete is usually tested for compressive strength by casting a
cube/cylinder, which is cured under favorable conditions until the test date.
These tests are known as control and conformity tests. Although concrete
is known for its durability, it is susceptible to various environmental
factors that might shorten its service life. So more concrete investigation
may be necessary for quality assurance and evaluation of existing
conditions. These tests could be destructive (DT) or non-destructive
(NDT). Among the available DT and NDT methods in concrete testing,
the core and the Schmidt hammer tests are the most commonly used in
practice.
This study aims to compare the results of standard cubes with core
and Schmidt hammer compressive strength of concrete exposed to
different environmental conditions. The variation between tests was
determined using regression analysis through the ORIGINPRO2018
program, which established a linear mathematical relationship between
cube, core and Schmidt hammer compressive strength.
