Abstract

Gastric ulcer is a persistent gastrointestinal (GI) disease; it affects 10% of the world’s population and can lead to bleeding and death. Gastric ulcer occurs due to impairment in the balance between the defensive and
destructive factors in the GI tract. These factors embrace both endogenous and exogenous factors. Ellagic acid (EA) is a natural polyphenolic substance. It has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anticarcinogenic pharmacological properties. Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is a
naturally occurring enzyme in the body, that has a protective role against cancer, aging, neurodegenerative disorders, cardiovascular impairments, and diabetes mellitus. The present study was conducted to spotlight the efficacy
of EA acid and CoQ10 as gastro protective agents against indomethacin
(INDO)-induced gastric ulcers in rats, also the mechanistic pathways of action of EA and CoQ10 were investigated.
