The study aims to identify and shed light on the role of monitoring and analyzing the work of social networking sites as a public sphere, by monitoring, describing, analyzing and interpreting the features of the readers’ comment discourse on the study pages on the Facebook network regarding issues of the elderly, and identifying the extent of the effectiveness of the readers’ comment discourse in building a public sphere for ongoing discussion. Among readers towards issues of the elderly and expressing different opinions on these issues and supporting them with justifications and logical arguments within the framework of the theory of the virtual public sphere. In addition to comparing the discourses of readers’ comments for each page in order to achieve spaces for discussion, both descriptive and analytical, this study is considered a descriptive study. The study relied on the media survey approach using a content analysis form and discourse analysis of a sample of pages on Facebook, so that the analytical study could be conducted on them during the period. The time allocated for the study, and the study of the person communicating on those pages, and the results of the study found that there was a degree of interaction in the discussion through readers’ comments on various issues, especially issues of the elderly, and the most prominent factors that provoke that interaction are the nature of the news itself and the news values on which this news is based. It also found The results of the study indicated that comments formed a new field that allowed readers to discuss public issues and avoid obstacles that might face their freedom to express their opinions in traditional media.The results also indicated that user comments on news organization pages on Facebook were of higher quality than website comments, in order to obtain a positive social appearance, maintain their image in front of others, and present their ideal self
