Abstract In the last decade, nano-inclusions were the focus point of wide range of research studies. The awesome thermal, electrical and mechanical characteristics of nano-inclusions are considered as breakthrough in field of structure. They can act as remarkable cement additives. The nano-reinforced cementitious composites have new better chemical, physical and mechanical properties which make them multifunctional composites. The different types and properties of nano-inclusions, the effect of these nano additives on the performance of the cement based composites in terms of durability, workability and mechanical properties and nano-included cement composites possible applications are discussed. Applying the nano-included cementitious composites as a helping agent in strengthening concrete members became an interesting research area because of the new characteristic cementious composites. It can be a substitute for ordinary cement or epoxy as an adhesive applied in different strengthening techniques, and this work focuses on its application in the near surface mounted technique. The research work includes testing of the mechanical properties of different mortars samples including different proportions (0.03% and 0.05% wt.) of Graphene oxide (GO) with/ without dispersants after 7 and 28 days. The results showed an enhanced flexural, and compressive strengths by 22.49% and 21.07% when a proportion of 0.05%wt. of GO was used with 5% by weight of silica fume (SF). Based on the results, these mix proportions were used to prepare the GO-included mortar adhesive. Seven concrete beams, reference one and six near surface mounted (NSM)- strengthened ones, were tested under two-point static loading to study the effect of using GO-included mortar on the bonding |
