Abstract This thesis uses a comparative method to study ”The Season of Moving North” by the Arab writer Taib Saleh and ”The Besieged City” by the Chinese writer Qian Zhongshu, to understand the differences and conflicts between Eastern and Western civilizations and cultures, and to understand the West The root of civilization and cultural differences can be seen in the mutual influence of Eastern and Western cultures at that time. The first chapter of this thesis will talk about the lives of Chinese writer Qian Zhongshu and Arab writer Taib Saleh and the introduction of their representative works. The first section will involve the life of Chinese writer Qian Zhongshu and an introduction to his novel ”Besieged City”, the second section will discussTaib Saleh’s works. Life and an introduction to his novel ”The Season of Moving North”. The second chapter of this thesis will discuss the characterization of the two novels, the first section will discuss the male image molding in the two novels, and the second section will sort out the female image molding of the two novels. The third chapter of this thesis will discuss the images of Eastern and Western civilizations in the two novels, the first section will explore the images of Eastern and Western civilizations and cultures, and the second section will involve the symbolic meaning of the two novels.
