Abstract

Today, in response to the tumultuous surroundings, health organizations must undergo continual alteration, which entails leading the organization towards rapid development and substantial and important changes. The transition of an organization from a particular state of circumstances to another is referred to as ”organizational change. Organizational transformation can take numerous forms. A change in the framework of an organization, strategy, rules, processes, technological advances, or culture may be involved. Nurses fear organizational change; the extent of nurses’ contribution to organizational change may have an impact on nurses’ motivation. It is critical to examine change from staff perspective. Instilling encouragement that is positive In a health organization, philosophy and practice can increase efficiency, quality, and services. Motivation helps nurses accomplish goals, develop a good attitude, increase confidence, and develop the ability to change smoothly and focus more on quality, which benefits the health care organization. They are more efficient, goal oriented, and act with purpose. Aim of the present study: The present study aimed to assess nurses’ perception toward organizational change and its relation to work motivation. Setting and subjects: Setting: The study was conducted in all department of El- Menshawy in different units General Hospital affiliation of Ministry of Health and population (300)bed capacity. Subject: Stratified random sampling of nurses (n=260) Tool of the study: Data of the study was collected by one questionnaire consisted of three parts, Part I:Nurses` characteristics included, age, gender, marital status, education, years of experience, job title. Part II: Nurses` perception toward organizational change questionnaire, it included seven subscales, and all questionnaire include 34 item. Part III: Nurses` work motivation structure questionnaire. It assessed work motivation of nurses, it included seven subscales and all questionnaire include 36 item. Main result of the study: - More than half (52.7%) of nurses had low level of perception regarding organizational change, (32.3%) had moderate level and(15.0%)of them had high level. More than half (51.54%) of nurses had low level of perception regarding work motivation, (38.5%) had moderate level and (10%) of them had high level. - There was a statistically significant correlation between levels of nurses` perception regarding organizational change and their work motivation. - There was a positive statistically relation between level of nurses` perception toward organizational change and all subjects characteristics of nurses` at (p≤ 0.05), except age. - There was statistically a significant positive relation between levels of nurses` work motivation with all subject characteristics of nurses at (p≤ 0.05), except gender. Recommendations: In the light of the present findings, the following recommendations are suggested: I-Hospital management - Describes tasks and timelines during change process to nurses and provides them with time and resources required to implement change. -Illustrates nurses with their roles in implement strategic plan and adopts the culture of evidence based practice. -Supports nurses through continuing education programme based on educational need of nurses for change. - Markets for nurses who have high experience and skills and rewards of them how do better performance. - updates the organizational policies to facilitate flexibility during change process. II- Supervisor -Gives nurses opportunity to make decisions of their work independently and accept suggestion from them. - Gives a chance to nurses to participate in problem solving in their unites and in budget planning of their unites. - Thanks their staff when doing duties accurately. - Provides nurses with new knowledge and skills and giving them the opportunity for doing challenging works to increase their level of motivation. -Encourages nurses to participate in different committees of training to improve their information about organizational change and motivate them toward change. - Empowers nurses through giving important roles in change process and give rights to influence in decision making process. III- For nurse -Encourage good open communication channels with nurses. -Learn nurses how to take decisions in different situation. IV-For further research -Assess relation between organizational change and marketing of health care organization among nurses. -Assess relation between work motivation and leadership style.
