Abstract Child malnutrition is one of the public health problems in Egypt. It might be affected by the political and economic transition occurring in Egypt and the Middle East. Aim and Objectives: This study was conducted to reveal the important socio-economic, environmental and family behavioral factors associated with health and nutritional status of children under two years old. Subjects and Methods: this was a descriptive cross sectional study; carried out in Al Mahmoudia district, which is one of the districts of Al Beheira governorate. Participants were interviewed using a structured questionnaire for assessment of socio-demographic characteristics, feeding and weaning. In addition, weight and length were measured. Whenever affordable, a blood sample for hemoglobin estimation was taken from above one-year infants. |
