This study included studies on children and their mothers, where the first part of study included a study of mothers to identify the social and economic characteristics of mothers, the
extent of their awareness and nutritional practices during the lactation period, and the second
part of study included a study of children in terms of identifying their general characteristics,
anthropometric measures of children, their nutrition (breastfeeding natural and complementary foods), iron deficiency anemia, physical and motor development and its relationship to vitamin D, children’s food allergy. The main objective was: To study some of
the nutritional and health problems resulting from some nutrients among infants in Alexandria.
Several sub- objectives emerged from this main objective, namely:
First: the study of mothers
1. Identify the socio-economic characteristics of mothers.
2. A study of nutritional awareness and practices for mothers during pregnancy and lactation.
3. Studying the nutritional practices of mothers, which included evaluating the dietary pattern of the mother by food freuqncy questionnaire and nutritional supplements that the mother consumes.
4. Studying the statistical relationships associated with the study factorsSecond: the study of infants
First: Identifying the general characteristics of children.
Second: Evaluation of physical growth through anthropometric measures for the children of the research sample (height - weight).
Third: Studying infant nutrition, including breastfeeding or artificial feeding or solid and
semi-solid complementary foods during the previous period, and what the rent takes from drinks and nutritional supplements during the lactation period.
Fourth: Estimating the level of hemoglobin for infants, the study sample at the age of one year and one and a half, and estimating the average from health centers and hospitals
affiliated to the Ministry of Health and Population.
Fifth: Recording the level of thyroxine in a sample of infants.
Sixth: Identifying the manifestations of physical growth that indicate the intake of vitamin D for kids.
Seventh: Studying children’s health and nutritional problems.
Eighth: Studying the statistical relationships associated with the study factors.
Ninth : Based on the results obtained, a counseling program is proposed to educate mothers about the dangers of iron deficiency, thyroxine and vitamin D deficiency, its signs,
and how to supply the infant with its needs of these nutrients.
To achieve these goals, a questionnaire was designed. The first study included mothers on (3) axes, and the second study included children, which included (6) axes. It was collected
from 300 infants between the ages of one and one and a half years, who attended health units and public hospitals under study. The place of the study in Alexandria city for those who

and deviation normative, and square Kay, and coefficient Correlation (r) Pearson, Spearman and analysis variance unilateral one way ANOVA and account LSD ,( t ) test using the SPSS version 23.
