Abstract

This chapter includes illustration for the experimental methods. The cell, the electrodes and the procedure used in the different methods for studying the inhibition effect of the newly synthesized nonionic surfactants on electropolishing of C-steel in case of chemical technique (Weight loss measurements) and electrochemical technique (natural convection (vertical plates)) in the absence and presence of the studied surfactants[DMAC, DMAP and DMAO]. The preparation of solutions, the experimental methods used in measurements of physical properties of solution (viscosity and diffusion coefficient) in the absence and presence of different concentrations of surfactants. Materials and procedure used in the synthesis of the three nonionic surfactants. Experimental techniques used in the present study which include Fourier Transform-Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) and 1H-NMR for confirmation of the chemical structure of the new prepared surfactants. Surface tension measurements for detection of CMC values. Determination of the surface active parameters and thermodynamic parameters for micellization and adsorption. Furthermore, the methods for surface characterization measurements (Scanning electron microscope(SEM), Atomic force microscope (AFM) and Gloss value (brightness)) in the absence and presence of studied surfactants.
