Abstract The main aim of this thesis is to review some methods for generating families of distributions, reviewing the gamma-exponentiated exponential, the gamma-exponentiated Weibull and gamma-normal distributions as well as some properties of the log-gamma- generated family. We used the log-gamma-generated family in generating a new distribution named log-gamma-Pareto distribution and studied its properties. We used Mathcad (2001) and a real data to estimate the distribution’s parameters using the method of maximum likelihood. We compared the log-gamma-Pareto distribution with the Pareto, gammaPareto and gamma distributions. We proved that the log-gamma-Pareto distribution provided a better fit for this real data |
