Abstract

Background: Transient tachypnea of the newborn (TTN) is a common cause of respiratory distress and NICU admission among full and near term neonates due to delayed resorption of fetal lung fluid after birth, which usually resolves in 2 {u2013} 3 days with oxygen supplementation but can persist in some neonates requiring nasal continuous positive airway pressure (n CPAP) and/or mechanical ventilation. The aim of the study: is to investigate the relationship between Lactate & LDH levels as a hypoxia determinants and the prolonged oxygen therapy and respiratory support requirements in the neonates having TTN.
