Abstract The original work of this thesis was aimed to study the utility of 2- cyanoethanethioamide in the synthesis of pyridine-2(1H)thione derivatives and bis-pyridine-2(1H)thione derivatives and study the utility of the later derivatives in the synthesis of additional new heterocyclic derivatives of this ring system utilizing the readily available reagents and starting materials. from the numerous prepared heterocycles, compounds containing the pyridine and bis-pyridine nucleus and their azolo, azino and thieno derivatives constituted the main members. Structures of all newly synthesized heterocyclic compounds were established by considering the data of both spectroscopic and elemental analyses |
