Abstract

This study was aiming to incorporating new technology of virtual microscopy in teaching veterinary histology in order to meet the most common standards worldwide. Samples of female genital organs of She-Camel were collected in order to prepare high quality slides. By using full HD Camera and advanced virtual realty softwares, we have succeeded in developing CUVETscope; the first virtual microscope module for the female genital organs of the She-Camel. Investigating students{u2019} preference for learning histological structures, comparing virtual microscope directly against traditional microscopy revealed that; up to 85% of the tested students found that virtual microscope is much easier in use than ordinary microscopes. 87% of them records that better image quality of the virtual microscope compared to the conventional light microscope were observed. Moreover; 85% of students recommended that it is important to use virtual microscope as an additional offer during histology curriculums. Virtual microscopy should in no way lessen our responsibility for providing competent veterinary medical educators during the student experience of mastering veterinary histology or histopathology. Virtual microscopy is only a tool and not a new approach to laboratory instruction. We must keep clear the distinctions between the delivery of the curriculum, and the educational tools that are used in delivering the curriculum
