Abstract

Background: Diabetes mellitus is a group of metabolic diseases characterized by chronic hyperglycemia resulting from defects in insulin secretion, insulin action, or both. Type 2 diabetes, once known as adult- onset or noninsulin-dependent diabetes, is a chronic condition that affects the way the body metabolizes sugar (glucose), the body’s main source of fuel. Purpose: To investigate the effect of monochromatic infrared energy (MIRE) on pain and quality of life impairments in patients type (2). Results: There was a significant improvement in pain and quality of life in both groups (A) and (B), while there was a significant difference in pain and quality of life between groups in favor of group (A) when these are compared after treatment (P<0.05). Conclusion: Monochromatic near infrared photo energy is effective in pain reduction, improving quality of life in diabetic type (2) patients with diabetic neuropathy.
