Abstract

To evaluate and compare the post-operative pain after the use of two different irrigation tips: a side-vented Max - i - Probe and an end-vented needle, NaviTip, tips in one-visit root canal treatment after 4, 12, 24 and 48 hours utilizing a modified visual analogue scale (VAS). Thirty patients with symptomatic irreversible pulpitis were divided randomly in two groups, group A: Max - i - probe; group B: NaviTip. After obturation, pain assessment was done pre - operatively, 4, 12, 24, 48 hours post - operatively using the modified Visual Analogue Scale (VAS). There was no statistically significant difference in median and range values for modified VAS scores for Max - i - probe and NaviTip tips at 4, 12, 24 and 48 hours. The NaviTip was as effective as Max - i - probe regarding their effect on post-operative pain
