المستخلص Tea is said to be discovered as a medicinal beverage thousands of years ago in China. Now it has become a very popular beverage, second only to water in worldwide consumption. Tea is a rich source of catechins, which account for about 30% of its dry weight. Tea catechins are well known as antioxidants and their anti-oxidative properties were found to be stronger than those of vitamin C, vitamin E, and Ý- carotene. Numerous in vivo and epidemiology studies have shown that tea catechins are linked to the prevention of many types of diseases like skin, lung, liver, pancreatic, gastrointestinal, breast, prostate cancers. Moreover, they are used for prevention and treatment of autoimmune diseases, cardiovascular diseases and brain disorder diseases. Volumes of scientific evidence now provide compelling proof that the active polyphenol found in green tea epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) has the power to decrease the number of regulatory immune diseases. Caffeine is the second major component in concentration relative to EGCG in green tea extracts |
