Abstract The objective of this study is to determine whether, in patients undergoing mitral valve surgery, minimally invasive mitral valve replacement via Right anterolateral minithoracotomy with video assistance improves postoperative complications and provides comparable or improved short term clinical outcomes, quality of life compared with conventional mitral valve surgery. This was a prospective, comparative, non - randomized, analytic study that enrolled a total of 30 patients of MVD, classified into two groups, one group attended to do mitral valve replacement by standard sternotomy, other group by right anterolateral minithoracotomy with video assistance. The standard group were operated in cardiothoracic unit of Mansoura international specialized hospital. Six cases of minimally invasive group were operated in mansoura international specialized hospital and rest of cases were operated in Alkasr Alainy university hospital, Cairo university.
