Abstract

Objectives IL-22 is differentially expressed in many autoimmune diseases. A considerable evidence suggests that IL-22 may be involved in the pathogenesis of many inflammatory diseases. However its pathophysiological function is not well known. The purpose of this work is to measure the levels of plasma IL-22 in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus( SLE) and Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) and to correlate plasma IL-22 levels with the disease activity and some clinical findings in SLE and RA. Methodology The levels of IL-22 in plasma were measured by enzyme- linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) technique. This was assessed in 25 SLE patients,25 RA patients and 25 normal control subjects
