Abstract Effort and cost estimation in software development is typically performed by collecting and processing historical project data and applying estimation techniques to this data. It is well- known that the selected estimation technique greatly impacts the results, and thus, can put the project at both technical and financial risk. The emergence of several estimation techniques over the last decade coupled with the diversity of the nature of software projects make the estimation process even more challenging. As a natural question will arise: Which estimation technique should be used to estimate the effort and cost of given software project?; thus this thesis attempts to provide guidance in selecting the appropriate estimation model suitable for the nature of the project |
