Assessment of Thyroid Profile and Auto- Antibodies in Egyptian Children with Asthma

Abstract
This is a cross-sectional study conducted on 40 children with mild to moderate persistent bronchial asthma and 40 healthy children taken as controls. All study groups were subjected to complete clinical study, CBC, IgE,FT3,FT4,TSH,Anti-TPO and Anti-TG levels were performed using (ELISA) kit. Our results showed that there was no significant difference between the two groups (case and control) through thyroid profile, auto- antibodies and BMI (P>0.05). On the other hand there was significant difference between the two groups (case and control) through IgE level and Eosinophilic count (p<0.001). These results show that bronchial asthma does not affect neither thyroid profile nor auto-antibodies.
