Effect of laser acupuncture on fatty liver in obese post menopausal women

Abstract
This study was conducted to determine the effect of laser acupuncture on fatty liver in obese postmenopausal women. Thirty obese postmenopausal women aged 50 - 60 years were participated in the current study. They were randomly distributed into two equal groups: Control group engaged in exercise program on treadmill, 3 times/week for 3 months and study group engaged in the same exercise program and received sessions of laser acupuncture, 3 times / week for 3 months. Liver size was assessed by ultrasonography and blood samples were analyzed to measure levels of cholestrol, triglycerides, High Density Lipoprotein (HDL), low density lipoprotein (LDL), risk ratio I (RRI), risk ratio II (RRII) and estradiol (E) before starting and after the end of the treatment program. Results showed highly significant decrease (p = 0.0001) in body mass Index, cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL, RRI, RRII and liver size, as well as highly significant increase in estradiol (p = 0.0001) and a significant increase (p = 0.006) in HDL in the both groups after treatment
