Abstract Scene classification is a fundamental process of human vision that allows us to recognize our surroundings rapidly and efficiently. Psychological experiments sgreed that: First, the superordinate level natural / man - made distinction is made by human first before basic level distinctions. Second, humans perceive a scene first globally recognizing its category before localizing and recognizing its contents. Inspired from the results of these psychological experiments, this work proposes two enhancements to scene classification: The first enhancement is the introduction of new feature sets inspired by human cognition, based on color and texture |
