Abstract

Aim of the study: The aim of this study was to evaluate the push-out bond strength of two esthetic fiber posts namely; white and translucent, at different root levels (cervical, middle and apical third) by using different adhesive resin cementation techniques; total etch, self-adhesive and self-adhesive with acid etching. The dislodged posts were examined microscopically to evaluate the mode of failure. Materials and Methods:A total of 30 single rooted extracted mandibular premolars were collected and decoronated. The root canals were biomechanically prepared with protaper rotary system and obturated according to the rotary system. After mounting teeth in acrylic blocks, the post space were prepared using special drills accompanied according to the post type as follows: group A: Exacto glass fiber post (white post).group B:Fiberkleer fiber post (translucent post). Each group were subdivided into 3 subgroups according to the cementation technique have been used: Subgroup I: RelyX ARC; adhesive resin cement (total etch). Subgroup (II):RelyXUnicemself-adhesive resin cement. Subgroup (III):RelyXUnicemself-adhesive resin cement preceded by etch and rinse modification. After cementation, all specimens were cut into 3 segments perpendicular to the long axis of the roots, coronal, middle and apical segment. A universal testing machine was used to dislodge the post piece in the apico- coronal direction. The load obtained was calculated and data were statistically analyzed. The specimens were examined under stereoscopic microscope for evaluation of failure mode at the different root levels
