Abstract

There is a continuous need of nanobiomaterials with suitable properties to be used as augmentation or replacement of human body parts. The aim of this work is to develop and evaluate a new nanobiomaterial by optimizing the mixing process of the three major components namely: multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs), ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) and high density polyethylene (HDPE) to melt extruder - mixing method. A major focus in this research is the experimental evaluation and precise assessment of nanobiomaterials characteristics using mechanical tensometer, hardness tester and surface nanometrology technique. The proposed samples are classified into two main groups of nanobiomaterials. group I was created through mixing two pure polymeric biomaterials, UHMWPE and HDPE with different ratios. The biomechanical properties of group I have been tested by measuring the yield tensile, ultimate tensile, fracture tensile, Young’s modulus, elongation at break, elongation at ultimate, hardness test. All developed biomaterial samples are tested and evaluated according to International Organization of Standards (ISO)
