Abstract The experiments was conducted at Sabahiya Test Station of Tractor and Farm Machinery Research, Alexandria Governorate during 2020 to 2022. in order to develop and manufacture a small unit for producing a green hydrogen fuel using solar energy (electrolyzer and fuel cell). Also to determine the optimal configuration and the operating conditions affecting the performance of the developed prototype. The performance of the developed prototype was experimentally investigated under three different sizes of the slices 10×10, 10×20 and 15×10 cm, Three different gasket thicknesses 1, 2, and 3mm, two types of electrolytes water tap, and alkaline water 30 % potassium hydroxide solution, For fuel cells, it was the different reaction surface area 50, 100 and 150 cm2, Three different thickness of the reaction chambers 0.5, 1 and 1.5mm, two types of electrodes, including both the cathode and the anode copper or aluminum, two types of different electrolytes (potassium hydroxide and methanol). The performance of the developed prototype was evaluated in terms of productivity, electrolyzer green hydrogen productivity and fuel cell electricity productivit. |
