Abstract Cancer is a global health issue and considered the second cause of mortality[1,2]. According to WHO reports in 2020, about 10 million deaths or nearly one in six deaths is due to cancer. Breast, lung and colon cancers are among the most common cancer types with 2.26 million cases and 685000 deaths for breast cancer, 2.21 million cases and 1.80 million deaths for lung cancer and 1.93 million cases and 916000 deaths for colon and rectal cancers[3]. Resistance against conventional chemotherapeutic drugs is considered one of the major problems in cancer management[4]. The urge for exploring novel chemotherapeutic targets as well as discovering new antitumor agents with high efficacy and limited side effects is very challenging. |
