Abstract Background: Hypersensitivity pneumonitis (HP) is an interstitial lung disease that develops after inhalation of an organic antigen or chemical compound in susceptible individuals. The nasal mucosa is constantly exposed to antigens that can irritate and/or sensitize the respiratory mucosa. Objectives: to assess the burden of sinonasal symptoms in HP patients and to evaluate the nasal histopathological changes in those patients. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on 40 HP patients diagnosed at the Chest Department, Kasr Alainy hospital in accordance with CHEST guidelines. Patients were subjected to thorough history, high-resolution computed tomography, spirometry, echocardiography, cough evaluation test (CET), sinonasal outcome test22 (SNOT-22), and nasal mucosal biopsy by an otolaryngologist under visualization by a rigid nasal endoscope |
