Abstract
The main goal of this research is to study the effectiveness of using PT slabs over RC slabs in increasing spans, loads and other variables. Comparative analysis was carried out on CSI SAFE and ADAPT Builder Pro to compare the slabs and determine the quantities needed for each one. Cost estimation was carried out to each and every slab and case studies for different variables was analyzed to determine the break-even point between ordinary RC slabs and PT slabs at which longer spans the solution of PT slabs would be optimum while at shorter spans the RC slabs solution would be more cost effective. The variables considered in this study are loads, concrete compressive strength and slab rectangularity ratio.
