The study aimed at identifying and diagnosing the development of school performance in the stage of basic education in the light of total quality management: a field study in Sohag Governorate and by focusing on providing a theoretical and field framework for the study sample on the development of school performance and total quality management by identifying the scientific and theoretical approaches to developing school performance in the literature Contemporary educational, theoretical and intellectual foundations of total quality management in educational institutions in the light of contemporary administrative literature, the role of total quality management in developing school performance in the basic education stage in Egypt, and presenting a proposed vision through which it is possible to develop school performance in the light of total quality management in the stage of primary education in Egypt. Basic Education in Sohag Governorate, The study used the descriptive approach to monitor the reality of school performance development in the basic education stage in Sohag Governorate in the light of total quality management, and a questionnaire was applied to a sample of (650) principals, agents, and teachers of basic education schools in Sohag Governorate.
The study found the following:
- The school is keen to implement the regulations and laws related to organizing work and achieving justice and transparency, and is keen on evaluating the performance of teachers and providing incentives to them while holding the negligent ones accountable.
- The curriculum is satisfied with the theoretical aspects that deal with one aspect of learning, which is the cognitive aspect, neglecting scientific and practical activities, and does not encourage the use of modern strategies, but rather, it suffices with delivery strategies that make the student just a recipient.
- Lack of resources for employees to complete their tasks.
- Weak availability of the financial funds needed to develop performance.
- The weak participation of parents in the development of school performance.
