Abstract

Lower back pain is one of the most prevalent pain in humans. The prevalence rate of sacroiliac pain reported to be 10% to 25% of the pa-tients with low back pain
The SIJ is a true diarthrodial joint that joins the sacrum to the pel-vis. Hyaline cartilage on the sacral side moves against fibrocartilage on the iliac side.
Stability is provided by the ridges present in the joint and by the presence of generously sized ligaments. The ligamentous structures offer resistance to shear and loading.
The SIJ is a pain-sensitive structure richly innervated by a combi-nation of unmyelinated free nerve endings and the posterior primary rami of L2-S3.
The main incidences of sacroiliac joint pain are seronegative Spon-dyloarthropathies and sacroiliac dysfuction.
Spondyloarthropathies include ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic ar-thritis, reactive arthritis, arthritis associated with inflammatory bowel dis-
