Abstract Two mango (Mangifera indica L.) cultivars (Keitt and Fajer kelan) were micro grafted on seedling rootstock (Sukarry) under controlled conditions greenhouse in November of 2018 and 2019 seasons. Grafting was done on 4 months rootstock seedlings with three grafting methods: top split, tongue and side. Data for eight different vegetative parameters e.g., growth length, flushes number, leaf area, etc., were taken after six months from grafting process time. An experiment was conducted for each horticultural parameter using three separate replicas for nine seedlings. A randomized complete block design (RCBD) was used for analyzing the recorded data. Fajer kelan cultivar recorded the highest mean value for survival ratio in both seasons and the highest values of leaf area. On the other hand, the Keitt cultivar indicated best response in the growth length, flushes and leaves numbers in both seasons. Results showed there was not considerable difference in scion, grafting area and rootstock diameters. The tongue grafting method showed the best mean values in most of the vegetative parameters while, the side grafting method had the lowest values. Anatomical cross section for grafting area for each method was done after 4 months from the grafting process to investigate the successful of micro grafting process. |
