Abstract Schistsoma mansoni is responsible for significant public health problems in a number of developing countries. Because a single cercaria develops into a single adult worm without replicating, in human field studies, lower worm burdens are associated with less morbidity and furthermore, fewer adult worms load lower egg production and consequently a reduction in a transmission. Therefore,we carried out mouth treatment experiment using nanotechnology in drug delivery system (Chitosan as a nanoparticles loaded with PZQ).This study was carried out one seventy-seven albino mice for the assessment of nanoparticles Chitosan in PZQ treatment efficacy, the criteria used for these assessment in the present work were:Worm burden, Oogram study,Estimation the number of ova/gm tissue (liver and intestine), Evaluation of hepatic granulomas number and size by histopathological examination of liver section, with Biochemical and Immunity study. Concerning the liver worm burden we found that, there was a significant reduction in a mice treated with Chitosan or PZQ alone or loaded for juvenile stage compared to positive control. . The percentage of protection recorded the following (52.76, 49.61, 77.22 %) respectively.while their effect on adult stage in worm burden reduction reached (91.36, 48,67, 97.12%) respectively. The best result in the study was in using nanoparticles Chitosan loaded with PZQ in the treatment. |
