Abstract

Goal: to judge the effectiveness of polarized light therapy versus low intensity laser therapy on chemotherapy-induced oral mucositis in cancer patients. Evaluation techniques(Measurement of the WHO oral mucositis scale and the Common toxicity criteria scale).Techniques:- Forty chemotherapy is given to cancer patients (Men and Women) who had oral mucositis, ulceration, pain and their ages ranged from 30 to 55 years divided into 2 groups. group (A) a group of 20 patients received the low level laser therapy (LLLT) withthe regular oral mucositis medication treatment, group (B) a group of 20 patients received Bioptron light therapy (BLT) with the regular oral mucositis medication treatment, duration of the BLT or LLLT application was 10 minutes daily application for 30 days. Conclusion and findings:-this study revealed that application of both the BLT and the LLLT on oral mucositis in persons with cancer following chemotherapy improved significantly as shown by the dramatically declines of the WHO OMS and the CTCS. But low intensity laser therapy (LLLT) was more beneficial than the Bioptron light therapy (BLT)
