Abstract
The present study was conducted on 60 Egyptian patients with pure chronic hepatitis C and 5 Egyptian patients with normal liver (liver donors), referred to the Tropical Medicine Department, TBRI. The patients were diagnosed histologically and immunohistochemically for Ki-67 and iron. Histologically 50 cases were diagnosed as chronic hepatitis C virus (CHC), comprised of 11 cases with cirrhotic lesion and 39 cases without cirrhosis. The other 10 cases were diagnosed as hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Five cases free of HCV infection were included as control
