Abstract

The aim of this study was to compare linear and angular deviation of virtually planned implants and actual implant position when using tooth supported computer aided surgical guides having long and short sleeves. 18 pairs of implants were placed through sterolithographic surgical guide with short sleeves in one side (3mm) and long sleeves in the other side (6mm). Nine patients with partially edentulous archs with bounded areas bilaterally were selected. Each arch received four preplanned implants from preoperative project based on data obtained from cone beam compoutrized totmgeaphy (CBCT) via radiographic guide . dicom data from preoperative cbct were processed into Mimics 15.01 software as three diamensions position of implant and type of sleeve used were virtually planned.then three diamension virtual stent was processed by rapid prototyping sterolitography into surgical guide .after guide fixation osteotomy sites were prepared through the guide then guided insertion of implants through the guide. After implant insertion a second CBCT was taken with the patient wearing the radiographic guide. Accuracy was obtained by superimposition of preoperative planned project and postoperative placed implant project to detect liner and angular deviation in coronal and apical position of implant. The accuracy of short and long sleeves have no statistical difference in both linear and angular deviation. There was no statistically significant difference in the linear and angular deviations between implants placed with surgical guides having short or long sleeve guides so short sleeve are good alternative to conventional long sleeves
