Abstract In the present study, 151 milk samples (raw and pasteurized) were collected to investigate the prevalence of proteus. The isolation of proteus from milk samples revealed 13 isolates (8.6%) positive samples. Antimicrobial sensitivity testing against different antibiotic agents revealed that all of isolates (100%) were sensitive to imipenem, while 92% of the isolates were sensitive to nalidixic acid and ceftazidime, 84.6% to ampicillin/sulbactam,70.9% to sulphamethoxazole/trimethoprime, 69.2% to cefotaxime. On the other hand, 61% of isolates were resistant to ampicillin followed by 53.8% to cephalexin. Molecular characterization of some ESBLs genes (blaTEM, blaCTX and blaSHV) using PCR showed that isolates were 6 positive for blaTEM gene, were 3 positive for blaCTX and were 5 positive for blaSHV gene and we do comparison between chromosome and plasmid and found ESBLs genes - blaTEM, blaCTX and blaSHV in both sites |
