Abstract

This work investigates biodegradable thermoplastic starch hybrid composites reinforced with {u200E}different short random oriented fibers from Sisal fibers, Flax fibers, and Date-Palm fibers. The hybrid composites fracture behavior is investigated using field {u200E}emission scanning microscopy (SEM). The composites water {u200E}uptake and biodegradation rate are investigated. The examinations show that the matrix is rapidly {u200E}saturated with water and has the highest biodegradation rate. The experimental investigations showed that the hybrid {u200E}composite has competitive properties lending them self as inexpensive and eco-friendly candidate for {u200E}industrial applications. In this research; Finite element mixed models are developed for predict of the {u200E}Young{u2019}s modulus for hybrid composites with random oriented chopped {u200E}fibers. The finite element numerical results are found to compare favorably with the experimental results
