The objective of this thesis is to provide solution for the problems related to power system disturbances that affect the synchronous operation of synchronous generator in order to maintain the stability of the power system and continuity of power supply to the customers. This can be achieved by using the proposed special protection scheme that can limit and minimize the disturbance effects to the small area of power system used in it with fast time. This can be carried out by making coordination between a dedicated zone of distance protection zones that will only operate during blocking of distance protection and the operating characteristics of the pole slipping protection which is installed at synchronous generator at certain chosen locations catching the moderate power swing conditions in the beginning stage before growing of oscillation which can be detected by distance protection and in the same time do not harm the generator or cause the pole slipping protection to operate
