Abstract

This research work was carried out to study the occurrence, distribution and density of nematode genera associated with ornamental plantations in relation to locality, soil type and ornamental species in four governorates in Egypt. Only 21 genera were recorded, ring, spiral and reniform nematodes were found prevailing in most areas as well as on plant species. As soil lighten nematode genera diverse. The seasonal fluctuations of most nematode genera were studied on four ornamental species (schefflera, dodonea, window leaf and lantana) grown in clay loam soil starting from November 2011 to October 2012. The nematode populations fluctuated according to plant species, nematode genera and soil temperature. The ring nematode peaked on schefflera and window leaf in November. The spiral nematode peaked on schefflera and window leaf in June and August. While lance nematode heightened on schefflera, dodonea, window leaf in October and November
