Abstract

The goal of this study is to evaluate the level of residential satisfaction of middle to high-class residents, comparing the results among old cities, new cities and gated communities residents in greater Cairo region of Egypt. The study reviewed various researches, exploring the conceptual model of measuring residential satisfaction, the importance of the subject as an evaluative factor of the success of residential projects and cities, and its effect on both the quality of life and house mobility behavior. It has also reviewed several researches considering the characteristics of the population of the study, as well as the characteristics of the greater Cairo as the region of the study. This research is based on a questionnaire survey conducted among 402 middle to high-class participants who live in the targeted areas. The survey questions and data analysis examined the level of residential satisfaction, quality of life and the tendency of house mobility. Results show that the gated communities{u2019} residents have the highest level of satisfaction and the highest quality of life followed by the new cities residents then the old cities residents, while the total average of satisfaction and quality of life is below the mean value
