Abstract The purpose of the study was to examine the effectiveness of merging writing conference and process approach in developing writing performance and self-efficacy of engineering students. The study adopted the quasi experimental design, a sample of engineering students from delta university for science and technology in Dakahlia governorate was selected and then assigned to a control and three experimental groups (33 students each group). The sample writing performance and their writing self efficacy were tested before and after the experiment. Four instruments were prepared by the researcher for the purpose of collecting necessary data: 1) a writing skills checklist, 2) pre - post essay writing test, 3) an analytic scoring rubric and 4) a writing self-efficacy scale. Thus the proposed programme was effective in developing engineering students writing performance and self-efficacy. The study recommended merging writing conference and process approach as they provide opportunities for students to be active participants, to be more motivated and positively influence their self efficacy that in turn develop their writing performance |
