Abstract In this study, polyurethane foam functionalized with isothiouronium group was prepared from acid modified PUF (PUF-SH , Cu (II) S-PUF, PUF―SC(NH2)2 , PUF―SC(NH2)2•Cu(II), CuS―SC(NH2)2 ―PUF and ITPU@CuS ) and characterized using the Fourier-Transform Infrared (IR), UV-Vis spectroscopies, iodine number, methylene blue value, pH of zero point charge (pHZPC), Acidic and basic groups, X –ray diffraction, Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and Energy Dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX). Polyurethane foam functionalized with isothiouronium group was prepared then modified by CuS to form CuS―SC(NH2)2 ―PUF and ITPU@CuS and Cu (II) S-PUF, PUF―SC(NH2)2•Cu(II) were modified by (Cu II). The removal efficiency of the new sorbents have studied . The efficiency of sorbents for removing of hazardous compounds e.g. methylene blue (MB) from wastewater were investigated with the batch techniques. As well thermodynamic parameters were determined. The photocatalyste CuS―SC(NH2)2 ―PUF has shown agood cabilities for dye degradation e.g. acid red 57 and malchite green dyes in visible light. All parameters such as pH, time , dye concentration and dosage of photocatalyste were determined. This can provide photocatalyste with utilizing solar energy and no byproducts. Modified polyurethane with low cost , effective resistance toward bacteria like (E. coli) & (S. aureus) and Candida were developed. It seems all sorbents have effective resistance toward bacteria. This modified polyurethane can used in saving clothes and food industry. |
